experience

I never forget the moment when I ripped the shiny golden paper off of a shoe box sized package on Christmas Eve in 1986 and unwrapped a black and white panasonic pocket camera. I was only eight years old, and ever since that day, I have been taking pictures.
At the age of 21 I was extremely lucky to have had a co-worker who would explain to me the secrets of photography, he himself has become an internationally acclaimed photographer working for the most important magazines in Europe and shooting ad pictures for international companies. He guided me my on my first SLR the Canon EOS 500 (Rebel) tricks.
When working as a journalist for a youth magazine (Unkraut, Germany), student newspaper Dalhousie Gazette (Halifax, Canada) and daily newspapers Deister- und Weserzeitung (Hamelin, Germany),  Münchner Merkur (Munich Germany) and Dachauer Nachrichten (Dachau, Germany) I saw myself mainly as a writer but never trusted other photographers and would always take my own pictures. On the one hand I have experience capturing that moment that would never come back and shoot at the right second (even back in the days when I worked with film and you had to think about the cost of of film and be afraid that you would need to change a roll right at the crucial moment, but I am also trained to capture the character of a person (when shooting portraits for interviews) and arrange a natural shot (when illustrating a story). Most importantly, I am fully engaged when shooting and am never satisfied with 99 per cent.
I currently work with a Canon 5d mark ii; my pride and joy!
